Chief Index Strategist and Head of Research, Thomson Reuters
Andrew Clark was recently appointed Chief Index Strategist and Head of Research for Thomson Reuters Indices, a new business venture of Thomson Reuters.
In this new role Andrew has the responsibility of developing new index methodologies, vetting index methodologies proposed by partners of TRI, making sure the indices perform as stated in the documentation after they are released, and being the chief “evangelist” for the Thomson Reuters Index business.
Prior to his current role, Andrew was Head of Research for the Americas for Lipper and Global Manager of Quantitative Analysis for Reuters’ Research and Asset Management division.
In this role he was also the main spokesperson for Lipper in Canada, the U.S. and Latin America. Andrew has made many appearances on CNBC, BNN, MSNBC in Hong Kong, CCTV, and CNNfN. He has spoken at many industry, economic, and mathematical conferences where he has presented original research and discussed trends in the market and the outlook for markets world-wide. Andrew has won several awards for his research – most recently the Best Investment Paper award from the Midwest Finance Association – and is regularly quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, and many magazines and papers around the world. His research work has appeared in Physica A, Quantitative Finance, European Physical Journal B and many other research journals.
In his quantitative research role for Research and Asset Management, Andrew helped lead the exploration of new businesses for Reuters in such areas as the development of investible actively managed indices, and the building of better credit rating tools for asset back securities and corporate bonds. He also worked with the Chinese Ministry of Labor and the Chinese government’s Social Security Fund to develop “best practices” guidelines and benchmarks for investment companies in China.
